The WinterForest Promise: A Legacy of Love and Companionship

Siberian cats are celebrated worldwide for their remarkable awareness, trainability, and deeply affectionate nature.
At WinterForest, we have witnessed firsthand over decades how they form profound, heartfelt bonds with their families.
Their unique ability to understand social cues and emotions makes them truly intuitive companions—often compared to dogs for their loyalty and intelligence.

Renowned for robust health, our Siberians come from carefully selected lines free from known genetic diseases and possess exceptionally low levels of the allergen FEL D1, making them an ideal choice for allergy-sensitive households.

Their breathtaking semi-long, water-resistant triple coat not only protects them but also enhances their regal presence—a living testament to their Siberian heritage.

Living with Love (and Allergies)

At WinterForest, our cats are raised with the lifestyle they deserve—daily affection, high-quality nutrition, and a home full of warmth and freedom. Despite living with cat allergies ourselves, we’ve created an environment that keeps allergens low while allowing us to enjoy life alongside our Siberians and dog.

As lifelong Siberian owners, we understand both the joy they bring and the importance of making thoughtful, allergy-aware matches. While Siberians are often called “hypoallergenic,” each person’s sensitivity varies—there is no truly allergy-proof cat, only careful pairing and preparation.

Through years of research and experience, we’ve found strong links between genetic diversity, robust immunity, and lower allergen expression. Our breeding focuses on diverse, healthy lines—studies also suggest that lighter-colored, neutered Siberians may trigger fewer reactions, though no guarantee can be made.

WinterForest is not just a cattery—it’s a home. Here, our cats grow up alongside children and other pets, becoming confident, loving companions.

And for those invited to join our family, we welcome you to experience the gentle magic of our Siberians in person—because choosing a lifelong companion should be a heartfelt decision made with connection, not just convenience.

The Soul of a Siberian: More Than a Forest Cat

Once known as “Siberian Forest Cats,” the name evoked images of wild, snow-covered woods — and for good reason. These noble creatures survived the harshest climates of Russia, not by roaming alone, but by forming deep bonds with the humans they came to depend on.
Over time, it wasn’t just strength that defined the Siberian—it was heart. Their intuitive, affectionate nature became as legendary as their resilience.

But few know that the very foundation of the Siberian breed, as officially recognized, was built not just on wild beauty—but on warmth.

The first cats to shape the breed standard were color-point Siberians, their luminous eyes and soft-toned coats setting them apart. These were not later additions, but essential figures in the breed’s development—an undeniable part of its heritage and identity.

Siberians today come in a wide range of colours and semi-long coat textures, each one unique. Yet, true Siberian kittens can be surprisingly difficult to identify. They pass through charmingly awkward growth phases before blossoming into the majestic companions they’re destined to become.

This slow, subtle transformation is part of their magic—but it has also led to confusion. With the growing demand for this captivating breed, well-meaning families are sometimes misled by breeders who cut corners, offering lookalikes that lack the authentic Siberian temperament and legacy.

At WinterForest, we honour the full heritage of the Siberian—including the color-points, whose quiet strength and soulful gaze helped define what the breed is today. To us, every kitten carries a story: of survival, of closeness to humans, of evolution guided by love and trust.

Because a real Siberian is not just defined by appearance—but by the way they love you back.

Authenticity Matters

The only true way to confirm a purebred Siberian is through a verified pedigree and the integrity of the cattery you choose. The breed does not allow outcrossing—mixing with other breeds compromises the Siberian’s unique traits.

Despite their luxurious coats, Siberians are surprisingly low-maintenance. With a quality diet, they shed minimally outside of seasonal changes, and a simple weekly brushing keeps their coat in excellent condition.

Once you’ve lived with a Siberian, it’s easy to see why dog lovers become Siberian cat converts—and why many owners can’t stop at just one.T

Siberians in the Spotlight

If you’ve ever spent time with a Siberian cat, it’s easy to see why they’ve become a favorite in the world of high fashion and film. With their balanced, athletic build, intelligent temperament, and natural poise, Siberians have graced the pages of Tatler, Vogue, and other style publications — including appearances in product placements, runway shows, and even on the big screen in films like Nine Lives.

Their striking appearance, paired with a rare combination of trainability and affection, makes them naturals in front of the camera. Yet, their rarity only deepens their mystique — many have seen a Siberian without even knowing it.

Surprisingly, despite their growing popularity, there remains little accurate and in-depth information available about the breed. Today, some of the most reliable knowledge comes from a passionate and expanding community of Siberian owners sharing their experiences through social media groups and breed-specific forums.

At WinterForest, we’re proud to be part of this movement — preserving the breed’s authenticity and sharing the beauty of Siberians with the world, both in everyday homes and glamorous stages.I

Do Your Research, Protect Your Future Companion

In the growing popularity of Siberian cats, not all sources are created equal. We strongly encourage potential pawrents to verify claims made by any breeder — no matter how appealing the offer may seem.

Always speak with multiple families who have adopted from the cattery, and ask thoughtful, informed questions such as:

  • How was the communication before and after adoption?

  • What was the kitten’s temperament and health like upon arrival?

  • Was the kitten well-socialized and confident in a home setting?

  • Did the breeder offer guidance or support after bringing the kitten home?

Unfortunately, unscrupulous backyard breeders often lurk in online groups, offering what may appear to be a “cheap Siberian.” While tempting, such kittens are often the result of cost-cutting practices — including overbreeding, poor socialization, and lack of health screening — that can lead to long-term behavioral issues, health problems, and high veterinary costs.

At WinterForest, we take pride in ethical, home-based breeding where our kings and queens live as part of our family. You can see glimpses of their lives on our social media page (@WinterForestSiberians), though we rarely post kitten photos to avoid the misuse of our images.

A Siberian is a lifelong companion, not a bargain. Take your time, ask the right questions, and ensure your kitten comes from a place of integrity, love, and true understanding of the breed.

Choose Wisely. Choose with Heart.

At WinterForest, we carefully plan each litter and follow strict vetting to ensure every graduate is placed in a loving, committed home. Our relationship with families doesn’t end at adoption — we remain a lifelong source of support.

Siberians are not your average cats. They are larger, emotionally intelligent, and crave connection. Their unique nature demands breeders who truly understand and respect the breed.

Sadly, the high demand for Siberians has led to unethical backyard breeders passing off mixed or unrelated cats as Siberians. These shortcuts often come at the cost of health, temperament, and authenticity.

Reputable catteries—like WinterForest—are registered, ethical, and transparent. Most enforce spay/neuter policies and are committed to preserving the breed's integrity. If a kitten isn’t feasible right now, consider adopting a juvenile from a trusted cattery—Siberians mature slowly and remain playful for years.

Take your time. Ask questions. Protect the breed by choosing breeders who honor it.
